Eugene "Gene" Jaschke

Gene Jaschke, 86, passed away February 14, 2017, at Trinity Center at Luther Park in Des Moines. He was born November 9, 1930, in Jamaica, Iowa, to Henry and Alberta Jaschke.

Gene was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps where he served during the Korean War. He was a route salesman for Anderson Erickson for 25 years and Wonder Bread for 10 years.

Gene was a member of Teamsters Union and the Izaak Walton League. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and time spent with his family.

Gene is survived by his sons, Roger (Charlotte) Jaschke and Rod (Judith) Jaschke; grandchildren, Robert Jaschke, Todd Jaschke, Tyler Jaschke, and Clark Jaschke; sister, Garnita; sister-in-law, Cathy Jaschke, and a host of other loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Patricia; and brother, Terry Jaschke.

Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m., Sunday, February 19, 2017, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines, with visitation beginning at 12:30 p.m. A private burial will be held at Resthaven Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association in loving memory of Gene.
