Donald Green


Donald Green of Mitchellville, formerly of Pleasant Hill, was born October 19, 1933, in Des Moines, IA to Leo Paul and Lucy Belle (Patterson) Green. He had one brother, Ronald. He attended East High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Don married Judith Noon on April 3, 1960, and to this union two children were born, daughter Tracy Leigh Green and son, Paul Dale (Brandy) Green.

He was a heavy equipment operator until his retirement. Don played softball (right field, 1st base, and catcher) for Easton Place United Methodist Church and was an avid bowler for many years. He also enjoyed fishing trips with family and friends, and was an Iowa Hawkeye and Chicago Cubs fan.

Don left this earth for a better place on February 13, 2017, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Preceding him in death were his parents, brother, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Don is survived by his wife of 56 years, Judy; daughter, Tracy; son, Paul (Brandy); grandchildren, Shelby, Sam, Shane, and Cael; sister-in-law, Janice Green; nephew, Steve Green and his son, Randy; niece, Christie (Michael) Sposeto, and many extended family members.

Don will be cremated and no services will be held per his wishes. Don/dad, you will be missed.
