Thelma "Jean" Feller

Thelma “Jean” Feller, 88, passed away Sunday, January 15, 2017 at Unity Point Health Des Moines Methodist.

Jean was born September 10, 1928 in Des Moines to Frank and Hazel (Cram) Gillaspy. She graduated from Lincoln High School. Jean was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church and the Urbandale VFW Post #9127 Auxiliary. She enjoyed sewing for everyone, making wedding dresses and baking. Her greatest joy came from spending time with family.

Jean is survived by her children, Melanie Vivone, Barbara (Greg) Moeller and Kevin (Jan) Cooper; step-daughters, Carol Sandman and Diana Feller; sister, Dorothy Andrews; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband John Feller; five brothers; five sisters; and her son-in-law, Michael Vivone.

The family will greet friends Thursday, January 19, 2017 from 5 to 7 p.m. with the Rosary recited at 6:30 p.m. at Hamilton's Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street in Des Moines. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at Christ the King Catholic Church, 5711 SW 9th Street. Jean will be laid to rest with her late husband John at 2 p.m. Friday at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery.
