Vicki Gioffredi, of Cedarburg, formerly of Ankeny, IA, passed away peacefully in the morning hours of Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at her residence within Lasata Crossings. She was 91 years old.

Vicki was born in Milwaukee on February 24, 1925, daughter of Louis Kowach and Hattie Zimmerman Kowach. She grew up in Milwaukee, graduating from Milwaukee Girls Tech High School in 1943. On April 22, 1948 she married Ankeey Gioffredi (also known as “Joe” in Milwaukee and “Hank” in Iowa) in Crown Point, IN. The couple made their home in Milwaukee until Ankeey retired from American Motors in 1976. They then moved to Ankeny, IA.

Vicki was an active member of Our Lady’s Immaculate Heart Catholic Church in Ankeny, and was also a member of Boline-Manfredi VFW Auxiliary Post 9662. Her hobbies included canning, crocheting, sewing, making homemade pasta, reading, and an occasional trip to the casino.

She is survived by her two daughters Kathy (James) Serafino of Troy, MI, and Patty (Ted) Brueggemann of Cedarburg, WI, grandchildren: Lauren (Matthew) Re, Lindsey (Dr. John) Coates, their son Wyatt, and Gina (Cody) Tozer, Michael Serafino and his children Jordan and Miranda, David (Michelle) Serafino, Brandon Gadde, and Michelle (Christopher) Taszreak and their children Marissa, Andrew and Jeffrey, as well as her brother Robert Kowach of Two Rivers, WI, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years and six siblings.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 noon on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at Our Lady’s Immaculate Heart Catholic Church, 510 E. 1st St. in Ankeny, IA. Father Steve Orr will preside over the Mass. Visitation will take place at the Church from 11 am until 12 noon. Vicki will be laid to rest next to her husband in Oralabor Cemetery in Ankeny, IA. In lieu of flowers, memorials suggested to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. The Eernisse Funeral Home in Cedarburg, WI and Hamilton’s Funeral & After Life Services in Des Moines, IA are honored to serve the family.
