Kevin M. Garrison
October 20, 2016
Kevin Michael Garrison, age 58, passed away Thursday, October 20, 2016 at his home in Des Moines.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 27, also at Hamilton’s, with burial to follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
Kevin was born in Des Moines, Iowa on May 23, 1958 to Phillip and Thurmadene Garrison. He graduated from East High School. He was in the Chess Club there and loved chess. Kevin worked at HyVee for 40 years. He truly loved HyVee and would plan the vacations the family took to coincide with the opening of new stores.
He and Glee Davis (Phillip) became parents to Nicole Jordan (Thomas) and Michael Garrison. He loved his kids and from a very young age taught them to love the Lakers. He took them to Minnesota to watch them play when he could. He was a huge Rolling Stones fan, so much that he named his son after Mick Jagger. (I’ll give you it this time!)
In the last few years, he took more time to spend with family whenever possible. He got closer to his sister, Nancy LeBlanc after her husband, J.D., passed away. He visited more when his brother JayDee and his wife, Rhonda came up from Texas, playing cards until late at night. He always had a deep respect and admiration for his big brother, John (Cindy.)
In addition to his daughter, son, and siblings, Kevin leaves behind many nephews and nieces and great-nephews and nieces, all of whom he loved, and many friends from all over.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, brother-in-law, J.D. LeBlanc, and numerous cousins and friends.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Nicki and Michael, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I trust your faith will carry you through this, but you are young to lose a parent, and he was young to pass. Know my best wishes are with you both. Please pass along my condolences to your mother and other family members. This is not an easy thing to deal with.

I remember Kevin as a sweet and slightly shy guy in high school. And smart!! I would run into him occasionally at Hy Vee and he was still the same sweet guy. He was always quick to smile. My sympathies go out to his family.

My prayer go to Kevin's family and friends.
Kevin was a friend in high school, and was always so very sweet.
When I moved back here from Texas, Kevin was one of the very first people I ran into. He welcomed me home with a smile and a hug at Hy Vee. I'm going to miss that smile
