Andreas “Andy” Coli, 85, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 16, at HCI Care Services Kavanagh House on 56th street from a short battle with cancer.

Andreas was born October 18, 1930 in Holland to Andy and Gonnie Coli. Andy and his wife, Helen, immigrated to the United States from Holland in July 1956. He worked for Jack’s Sinclair before working full time as a mechanic for Bob Brown Chevrolet where he worked until his retirement. He made and rented two wheel trailers for a few years and served for 26 years as a volunteer firefighter for Bloomfield Twp. Fire Dept. currently known as the Northern Warren Fire Dept. Andy loved ice hockey and played for several years at the Des Moines Ice Arena. He also raced go-carts, loved watching auto racing, playing golf and playing cards with close friends. After retirement he worked for several years at the Holiday Inn on Fleur. He and Helen traveled to Texas for several years during the winter months.

Andy is survived by three sisters, one brother, numerous nieces and nephews in Holland and many close friends in the States. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen.

Per Andy’s request there will be no funeral service. Instead there will be a Celebration of Life for family and friends on Saturday, October 22nd from 1:30pm to 4pm at the Northern Warren Fire Dept. on S.W. 9th just south of the bypass. Use walk-in door on west side of building. Bring memories of Andy to share with others.
