Daniel Lewis, age 66, passed away on Thursday, August 25, 2016, surrounded by his loving family. Daniel was born to Ralph and Shirley on March 15, 1950 in Des Moines, Iowa.

Daniel attended Lincoln High School. He married the love of his life, Cathy on September 6, 1969 and the two of them were blessed with three daughters. Daniel later owned and operated D & L Auto Repair in Des Moines, where he retired from, there wasn’t anything broken that he couldn’t fix. Daniel’s passions included, being an avid Hawkeye’s fan, NASCAR, Jeff Gordon being his favorite, and fishing and hunting. He lived his life to the fullest and had the gift of gab. Most importantly, he loved spending time with family, especially his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 47 years, Cathy; daughters, Danette Lewis (Ron), Carrie (Jeremy) Oltman, and Cathy Lewis (Belaid); grandchildren, Taylor, Emily, Ashley, Johnathan, Jenna, and Ayden; great-granddaughters, Audreana and Alivia; siblings; brothers and sisters-in-law; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Judy Lynn.

Visitation will be held from 5 to7 p.m., Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street in Des Moines. Funeral service will begin at 12 p.m., Wednesday, August 31, 2016, also at the funeral home followed by burial at Glendale Cemetery.
