William “Bill” E. Stepp, 65, died peacefully after a lengthly illness on Sunday, July 24, 2016 at Columbus Hospice in Columbus, Georgia. He was born August 29, 1950 in Marion, Ohio.

Bill graduated from Boys Town High School and earned a certificate from a computer tech school in Georgia. Bill proudly served his country in the Vietnam War. He earned the Vietnam Campaign Service Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Stars, Good Conduct Medal, and National Defense Service Medal. He also was a member of the US Marine Corps Silent Drill Team. In his past times he was a crafted wood worker and enjoyed working in his yard. Bill spent many hours tending to his flower garden, watching hummingbirds, and going RV camping.

Bill is survived by his long-time companion and fiancé, Joyce Robinson; siblings, Danny, Charles, Linda, Cindy, David, and Gene; and a host of nieces, nephews, and beloved friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Winfrey Stepp; and mother, Esther Stepp.

A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, July 29, 2016 at Glendale Cemetery, 4909 University Avenue, in Des Moines.
