Elmer “Red” Adams, 87, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines.

A memorial visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Sunday, July 3, 2016 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines.

Red was born January 22, 1929 in Knoxville, Iowa to Dewey and Oradell (Whitlatch) Adams. He was a retired mechanic and enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and hunting in his younger years. Red loved spending time with his grandchildren and they will remember fondly how he would tease them.

Elmer is survived by his wife of 50 years, Frances; children, Pam, Cass (Cindy), Joyce, Rocky (Shannon), and Kim; grandchildren, Brandon (Melissa), Zach, Chassity, Corey, Tonia, Ty, Stefan, and Lindsay; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and his sister, Char.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Tina; and brother, Gary.
