Scott Allen Perez, Sr.
May 26, 2016
Scott Allan Perez, Sr., 44, passed away tragically on May 26, 2016 in Des Moines. He was born July 15, 1971 in Des Moines to Marsha (Herring) and Joseph, Perez, Sr.
Scottie spent his entire life in Des Moines. As a teen, he played football at Roosevelt, soccer, basketball and baseball.
“Peace, Love and Energy” was his favorite saying and how he lived his life. He would often give love taps on his friend’s shoulders as he knew no strangers and was loved by all. He was the kind of person who would invite people over for a warm meal, roof over their head and once provided shoes to a homeless person to avoid the cold winter.
Scottie loved music and could be heard singing while his brother, Pepe, played the harmonica. He would end every song with “uhhh energy” or “hun, hun feel it” to share the passion for his words. Scottie and Pepe were often together, even in his last moments, so much so that Scottie referred to Pepe as his “Irish Twin”.
Scottie loved his kids and grandchildren. It was not uncommon for Scottie to wake up his grandchildren with candy after they stayed the night. Scottie would often ask for a ride to Greenwood Park, where he enjoyed basking in nature and then walk back home. Scottie would always find a way to stay in contact with family and would often be found in the back yard meditating. He will be remembered in our hearts as most commonly wearing a sports jersey, jeans and backwards cap.
He is survived by his parents, Joseph and Marsha Perez; children, Scott Perez, Jr. (Lisa), Scotniesha Perez, Danielle, Justin, Emanuel and Marshal Perez; grandchildren, Keith Clayborne IV, Aniyah Perez, Zarii Perez, Antonio Perez, Aaliyah Perez and Zaynirah Perez; siblings, Micheal Alcantar, Joseph Perez, Jr., Patrick Perez (Shannon) and Cory (Sierra) Perez; mother of his 3 children, Shalisha Barber Allen; and many aunts, uncles, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Scalicity Angel Perez.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Monday, June 6, 2016 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St., Des Moines with visitation from 2:00 – 6:00 PM on Sunday, June 5, 2016 at the funeral home. Burial will follow services at Resthaven Cemetery.
Memorials may be directed to the family.

Joe and Marsha have been great neighbors. Scott was a loving son, brother, father and grandfather. It saddens us to know that so many people are grieving but it is testament of their love for him. I wish we could take away their pain. They will be continually in our thoughts and prayers. May the Peace of Christ be with them now and throughout the years.

Scott Allen Perez
God has reigned his blessings upon you more than once,
your smile,
your laughter,
your kind heartedness,
your graciousness,
your feel,
your touch,
your daily presence,
now, all cherrishable memories,
our hearts continue to seek,
You see,
He unified you and baby girl,
Scalicity Angel Perez,
which is where your heart,
your heart longed to be,
What a beautiful testimony,
back together,
and eternal peace.

Dear Family: Trust the Lord in this time of confusion when things dont make sense and nothing you do will stop the pain, stay close to each other. Though we may not experience what youre going through, I hope you can find comfort in knowing youre not alone in your struggles. We are with you whatever you need, as within our powers. Trust that there is a way forward even though you cant yet see it. Though the road is bumpy and rough, remember there is one who can hold you up. You may be feeling overwhelmed by your circumstances; take time to listen to the Lord. He does not control your circumstances, but He is able to use bad for good which seems so far removed just now, and this does not remove your suffering, but it does fill it with meaning. Psalm 103:6 - GOD makes everything come out right; he puts victims back on their feet. (Gateway Bible). So though you are in this difficult storm, I say to you, Trust in Him and He will give you peace.

Please accept my deepest condolences for your family's loss of Scott, I had the honor of working with him for over 4 years at The Marriott, Savery Hotel, Hy-Vee Hall and Iowa Speedway. Scott was a very gentle person and a true man. He would see co-workers struggling and would intercede to always assist us with our trays. He was an exceptional person and will be truly missed amongst all of the servers who had the pleasure of working beside him. Joe and Scott were like twins, two peas in a pod. They were always together. I enjoyed working with them and car pooling on occasion. Words cannot begin to express our sorrow. May God be with you now as you face this time of grief and may you know the comfort of the Lord.
