Catherine Griffin

Catherine Griffin, 64, passed away May 22, 2016, at her home in Waukee, Iowa. She was born September 19, 1951, in Des Moines.

Catherine graduated from North High School and worked as a secretary for the Office of the Attorney General for many years.

Catherine had a passion for softball that led her to playing, coaching, and starting many teams of her own. Catherine went on to State several times and was inducted into the Iowa Women’s Fast Pitch Hall of Fame. She also enjoyed boating and spending time with her family.

Catherine is survived by her siblings, James Griffin, Margaret Hartman, and Debbie Bahanish; sister-in-law, Valerie Kottke-Cole; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and beloved friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Isabella Cole; brother, Charles Cole; and sisters, Jeri (Bernie) Kriner and Charlene Cole; sister-in-law, Judith Griffin.

A memorial gathering will be held 1 pm to 4 pm Sunday, September 18, 2016 at Cadet Shelter at Big Creek State Park.
