Thelma Zimmerman

Thelma Zimmerman, 72, passed away Sunday, January 31, 2016 at Unity Point Health Des Moines Methodist.

Thelma was born December 15, 1943 in Des Moines to Lloyd and Irene Billings. She worked as a dietary aide at Wesley Acres for many years. Thelma was a member of Valley Junction Church of God. She enjoyed shopping at thrift stores and was an animal lover, especially dogs.

Thelma is survived by her husband, Kenny; children, Carolyn “Bookie” Stevenson, Sherry West, Rhonda West and Lisa Stevenson; sister, Carolyn “Susie” Utley; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Glenn Billings; and daughter Debbie Burriola.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, February 8, 2016 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street followed by burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday, February 7th from 2 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
