Katie J. Streight (Overton)
5/28/1970-11/25/2015

Katie J. Streight passed away on Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at home. Today we say goodbye to a beloved daughter, sister, mother and grandmother. There was love in Katie’s heart for everyone. However, the love that she shared with her grandchildren Brooke, Julian, Bella, Niko, Anthony and Jordan was remarkable. There is a grandchild due in June that will not be able to capture the love in Katie’s heart. Hopefully with the memories and moments that we have shared with Katie, her legacy can be carried on to those who won’t have the chance to know the Katie as she was.

Katie spent most of her childhood and adult life in Des Moines, Iowa where she graduated from North High School with her GED in 1999. In 2000, she attended DMACC where she would graduate as a Pharmacy Tech. She found shortly after that she wouldn’t be able to follow her dreams because of allergic reactions she had with many medications. That didn’t stop Katie from living her life to the fullest. For the last 12 years Katie has been a homemaker for her family. She cared for her mother, Mary Springer and step-dad, Dean Springer.

Katie introduced Mary and Dean. Our families were brought together by chance on December 17, 1994. Where the love is never ending. She is survived by her parents, Mary and Dean Springer; sister, Veronica (Jim) Henderson; brothers, Marc (Kim) Ortiz, Paul Overton, Justin Christenson and Mike Overton; sons, Cory Thompson and Zachery Butrick; daughter, Deziray Overton-Streight; three step-daughters; fiancé, Ron Weis; many nieces and nephews; step-sisters, Ninette (Ed) Mangrum, Trish (Kevin) Richard and Jeanie (Calvin) Sanders.

She was preceded in death by her father, Larry Overton; and ex-mother-in-law, Marilyn Streight.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, December 2, 2015 a West Des Moines Christian Church, 4501 Mills Civic Parkway, West Des Moines.

Katie will be missed dearly by many, but her memory will be carried on for years to come through the love she shared close to our hearts….Forever and Always!
