Anita Jo Clark
Waukee

Anita Jo Clark, 73, of Waukee, Iowa, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loving family, on Thursday, July 30, 2015, after a courageous fight for life following heart surgery.

She was born on December 20, 1941, to Walter and Lila (Hines) Osborne, in Des Moines. Anita attended East High School in Des Moines and was united in marriage to Bill Clark in June, 1962. Anita retired from Younkers Department Stores after more than 20 years. She then started another career with Casey’s General Stores and retired from there after nearly 20 years.

Anita attended First Assembly of God Church in Des Moines and was a member of White Shrine and Za Ga Zig Temple. She enjoyed traveling, reading, dining out, going to garage sales, cleaning, spending time with her many friends, and lots of shopping. Anita never met a stranger and always had a smile for everyone. Anita had a zest for life and lived, and died, in her own way, on her terms. She was a strong, courageous woman with a tremendous spirit and will to live. Anita was deeply loved by her family and will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her son, Jeff of Des Moines; sister, Lora (Terry) Gibbons of Des Moines; brother, Walter “Doc” Osborne of Des Moines; brother, Sam (Diane) Osborne of Florida; many nieces and nephews and lots of friends. Anita was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Lila; her husband, Bill; her sisters, Joyce, Florence “Toot,” and Jeanette; and her brothers, Jerald and Norm.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the many professionals at Select Specialties Hospital for providing exceptional, compassionate care to Anita.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 4, 2015, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 5, at 2:00 p.m. at First Assembly of God Church, 2725 Merle Hay Road, Des Moines, with interment at Mitchellville Cemetery in Mitchellville, Iowa.
