Darrell "Kent" Boyd

Kent Boyd, 66, passed away on May 23, 2015, at his home in Slater. He was born March 9, 1949, in Macomb, Illinois, to Darrell and Blanche Boyd.
Kent was a member of Saylorville Church in Des Moines and First Baptist Church in Plymouth, IL. He loved any and all sports, listening to music, and spending time with his friends and family.
Kent is survived by his children, Amber (Derek) Kirk, Kent (Tawnya) Boyd, Jr., Mica Boyd, and Jason (Megan) Boyd; 13 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren; brother, Greg Boyd; sister, Elaine Dirksen; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and beloved friends. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 40 years, Barbara, and his parents.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Thursday, May 28, 2015, at Saylorville Church, 6429 NW 6th Drive in Des Moines, with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive visitors Thursday morning at the church from 9:30 to 11 a.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family in loving memory of Kent.

I went to grade school with Kent. We were friends back then and I remember nothing but fond memories of him and all the family. You will all be in my prayers. May God grant you peace.

He was the BEST grandpa ever.
He gave me the best memories.

Kent was a longtime friend of our family-my parents and I thought so much of Kent. He was always so kind and had such a contagious smile. Kent was there when both my parents passed away and I will always remember the big hugs he gave me! My love and sympathy to all the family.

He was the greatest brother a girl could have ever asked for growing up 19 months apart left us with some wonderful memories. I will miss him more than words can say but will see him in glory with my dearest friend Jesus Christ

This is my grandpa. I am the daughter of his son Kent. Geiger, will be dearly missed. He was a great man. He was probably the strongest man i have ever met. I will never forget the laughter and tears we had shed together. He watched me get baptized, we have a lot of great memories. I love you lots Geiger. You will never be forgotten, only dearly missed. ?

My Grandpa was a great, heartfelt man. He always kept his faith in all the difficult times. Geiger will be loved and missed so dearly. He inspired so many. We will never forget what a kind, great man he was! WE LOVE YOU GEIGER!
