Irene Fuller Williams
Des Moines

It is hard to realize, but it is true, that our battle for the prize must go on without you. But you finished your task the other day, folded your tent, and went away. You left us, yes, you left us and this we can’t undo, and while you cannot come back to us, we’re glad we can come to you. They tell me that the records will show, that you died the other day, but from the record I can show, you just went away.

Mrs. Irene Fuller Williams, affectionately known as “Fats”, departed this life on May 23, 2015 in Des Moines, Iowa. She was 80 years old. She was born to Lucille and Relus Fuller May 12, 1935 in Shreveport, Louisiana. Both parents, three brothers, Joseph Fuller, M.C. Fuller, and J.C. Fuller, her beloved husband, Mack Williams, Jr., and her grandson, John Ray Fuller precede her in death.

Irene accepted Christ in the early part of her life at White Roall Baptist Church in Shongaloo, Louisiana. Irene worked for Holiday Inn for 15 years. She went to Hope, Arkansas to make a home as a single parent. She worked for Tyson for about 10 years, then moved to Des Moines, Iowa and worked for Holiday Inn for an additional 16 years and for Hotel Fort Des Moines, from where she retired.

Irene loved fishing, football, old cowboy movies, Steven Segal, dancing, cooking, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and her favorite pet dog, Emma. She was loved by all and will be missed by everybody.

Irene leaves to cherish her memory: son, Raymond Fuller, Jr. (Brenda Dixon), daughters, Willamenia Jordan (Otha Jordan) and Shirley Fuller (Norven Logan), sisters, Mildred Manning of Cullin, LA, Wilora White of San Diego, CA, and Estes White of Indianapolis, IN, and brothers, Albert White of Cullin, LA, and Andrew White and Willie White of Indianapolis, IN. Irene had 22 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Irene was united in marriage to her beloved husband, Mack Williams on August 30, 1989. He went to heaven on December 25, 2010. They were inseparable and enjoyed fishing and traveling together.

The family wishes to express their deepest and heartfelt appreciation for all the flowers, food, kind deeds, prayers, and all expressions of love sympathy, and comfort. May God bless each of you.
