Virginia Marie Todd was born May 3, 1923 in Creston, Iowa to Orval Clay and Ethel Lillian (Means) Larson. She passed away May 22, 2015.

She moved around Iowa and Kansas with her parents, because her dad, Orval, worked on the railroad. Virginia graduated from Martensdale High School in 1941 and attended Capital City Commercial College, graduating in 1942. She then worked as a bookkeeper at Cownie Furs.

Virginia was married in 1948 at First United Methodist Church to Eugene Todd, and became a full-time mother and homemaker in 1949. After living in San Antonio during the Korean War, she and Eugene farmed near Woodward, moved to SW Des Moines, and then back to the town of Woodward for many years, where their three sons graduated from high school. In 1988, they moved to Clive, and after Eugene passed away in 2003, Virginia enjoyed living at 3721 Grand, where she made many friends.

Her family was so very important to her and she always enjoyed seeing her grandchildren. Virginia is survived by her son, Tom (Linda) Todd of Minneapolis ,MN and their children, Kevin of Albuquerque, NM, and Kyle of Seattle, WA; her daughter-in-law, Karen Todd (wife of son Dan) of West Des Moines; and son Craig (Stephanie) of St. Louis and their children, Nathan (Sarah Maurizi) of St. Louis, Natalie of Chicago, and Jocelyn at the University of Utah; her sister, Dorothy Riccio of Des Moines; and many other relatives and friends who will miss her.Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Eugene in 2003; and her son Dan (Karen’s husband).

Funeral services will be held at West Des Moines United Methodist Church, 720 Grand Avenue, West Des Moines, on Saturday, May 30 at 1:00 p.m. with burial to follow at Woodward Cemetery in Woodward, Iowa. Visitation will be held, Friday, May 29, from 4 to 7 at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway, West Des Moines.
