Rebecca Dearborn
May 19, 2015
Rebecca (Beccy) Jane Fink, Dearborn, 68, of Ankeny, IA passed into our savior’s arms on May 19, 2015, at her home after a four year battle with cancer. Beccy was born September 16, 1946, in Manhattan, KS, the second child of Lorrin and Lois Fink.
Beccy was a dedicated elementary school teacher who tirelessly worked to help each student she encountered during her 17 years of teaching in Kansas, Colorado and Iowa until her retirement in 2011 from Beaver Creek in Johnston, IA. She also served as church secretary for Faith Bible Church in Robins, IA. Beccy attended Kansas State University for two years and became a member of the Tri-Delta sorority and graduated from Emporia State University.
She enjoyed spending time with her six grandchildren, sewing, knitting, gardening, and cheering on the Denver Broncos. An avid reader, she enjoyed reading the Bible and attending Bible studies. She was a graduate of Bible Study Fellowship and served as a Children’s Leader for several years in Des Moines, IA. She also loved to travel and find local festivals and historical landmarks to visit. Her greatest joy was found in loving and serving others and making them feel special.
Beccy is survived by her husband, Robert Dearborn of Ankeny, IA, daughters, Mandy (Jeff) Safley of Roseville, CA, Kamy (Shawn) Beattie of Davenport, IA, and Cassy (Matt) Townsley of Mt. Vernon, IA., six grandchildren, her mother, Lois Fink of Manhattan, KS, and sisters, Sherry (Jeff) Denton of Salina, KS, and Jan (Curtis) Converse of Colorado Springs, CO. She was preceded in death by her father, Lorrin Fink and aunt, Mildred Loeffler.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, June 9th, at Grace Church, 4200 E. 25th St., Des Moines, IA. Visitation will precede the service from 1:00-1:45pm at Grace. Graveside services will be held at 1:00pm on Wednesday, June 10th, at Sunrise Cemetery in Manhattan, KS.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Emporia State University Foundation, 1500 Highland St., Emporia, KS, 66801-5018 in loving memory of Beccy (Fink) Dearborn to establish a scholarship fund at Emporia State for students majoring in Elementary Education.

Beccy and I were college roommates at Emporia State University. We have exchanged Christmas letters all these years...I will miss Beccy. We lived in Hahn Apts with two other girls. Usually the four of us would sit down to supper together. To this day I remember some of the German phrases Beccy taught us! Deepest sympathy to you Bob and your daughters and families.

God asks for things the rest of don't understand. Beccy was our neighbor as a young lady, exceedingly well liked.
