Virgil was an active member at Bethany Reformed Church in Des Moines. Virgil will be remembered as a selfless man who was always giving of himself and assisting others in need. He had a great sense of humor and could fix anything. Virgil enjoyed spending time with his family, following the Iowa State Cyclones, riding his bicycle, and playing ping-pong.

Daniel just told me of Virgil's passing, and I had to share my recollection of him as a junior high youth group leader who gave us motorcycle rides around your neighborhood in Ankeny so many years ago! Also - you taking us to the VEISHEA parade in Ames was a wonderful memory that I have never forgotten. May God bless you with His perfect peace and sweet memories.

Dear Audrey and Family,
Sharing our young lives in Orange City gave us happy, lasting memories. Now we are in a phase of our lives where we are losing our spouses and good friends. May the memories of our close friendships and happy times always be in our hearts. Know that those of us who cared for you then still care now. With much love....

Very sorry for your loss. I really enjoyed spending time with your family, especially the trip to Kentucky several years ago. Enjoyed Virgil's quiet and dry wit. May God give you peace and strength during this time.

Virgil was such a kind gentle man of God. No words can express the grief but the comfort of knowing Virgil is finally at peace in the presence of Jesus brings comfort. Prayers for all of you at this time of loss.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family Audrey. I have been lucky to have known Virgil since we were both kids in 4-H . Virgil was always ready to help other kids with their projects and was always so kind and ready with a big smile. He will be missed. Also a special prayer for our neighbors and friends Marlon and Cora and their family.

We have had the pleasure of knowing the Haverdink family because they grew up in the Orange City area. The family members are gentle and kind folks who cared about the people around them. I also went to school with Arla. We would like to express our sympathy to each one of you as you remember and celebrate the life of your loved one. God's blessing of comfort to you.
