Jeffrey Heller
January 05, 2015
Jeffrey John Heller, 41, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family January 5, 2015 after a strong fight with cancer.
Jeff was born December 11, 1973, in Des Moines, Iowa, to John and Dawn (Martin) Heller. He had the most vibrant and outgoing personality; truly touching the lives of everyone he met. He was a bright star and dedicated employee to all patients and co-workers who had the pleasure of his warm welcome at East Village Chiropractic where he worked for the past 8 1/2 years.
Jeff was an avid New York Yankee and Duke University fan. Jeff’s love and appreciation for baseball (and basketball) proved to leave a lasting impression on hundreds of kids, and parents alike. His passion, spirit, and loyalty to those he coached was felt by many. You couldn’t miss Jeff at any sporting event without hearing his encouragement and drive for the boys he loved to coach, including taking his Grandview Little League boys to the state finals for the Little League World Series. His passion for youth sports, his dedication to every child coached, was just a small piece of his sparkling personality.
Jeff was diagnosed with cancer in August of 2014. He had an abundance of support and love during this time and never stopped being positive. He was loved by so many and the non-stop love of family, friends, his husband Jason, and his beloved American Bulldog, Duke kept him full of sugar, sunshine, and vibrant until the very end.
Jeffrey is survived by his husband, Jason Green; sons, Christopher, Ryan and Edward Green; mother, Dawn Heller; sister, Thana Heller; uncle, Dennis (Deb) Martin of Lincoln, NE; aunt, Janice Shannon (Heller); as well as many family, friends, and little champions throughout the Des Moines metro. He was preceded in death by his father, John W. Heller as well as his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, January 8, 2015 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 9, also at Hamilton’s. Cremation will follow.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family to be distributed for lymphoma research.

I knew Jeff from the clinic. I always felt happier in his presence. We talked of his family and the sports he coached and it was easy to see how much he loved them.
He will be so missed in this life by more people than can even be imagined. Brilliant Star indeed!
I am so sorry for the loss of Jeff in the lives of his family and friends and all of us whose life he touched with such radiance.

Jason - I never got to meet Jeff, but he must have been awesome. Remember how lucky you and the boys were to have had him in your life - even if the time was too short. Love never dies and neither will your memories of your times with Jeff. Please give my best to his mother and sister also. You are loved Jason. Lori, Larry & Hayley

I've been a patient at East Village Chiro for many years. Jeff was always such a beaming light. He lit up any room he was in. His sense of humor was great, as was his love for music. He was always singing in the office waiting room. :) Now he's singing in the most amazing place among the Angels. My thoughts and prayers are with Jason, their sons, and the rest of the Heller family.
