Service Details
Walter Jess Knight, Jr., 81, passed away December 16, 2014, at Bright Kavanagh in Des Moines, Iowa. He was born January 19, 1933, son of Estella and Walter Knight, Sr.
Walter was a veteran of the United States Navy and served during the Korean War. He retired from Iowa Power and Light after more than 40 years of dedicated service.
Walter is survived by his wife, Phyllis; children, DaAnn (John) Heiniger and Martin (Tami) Knight; grandchildren, James Carre, Ashley, Skylar, and April Knight; great-granddaughter, Haven Kenyon; as well as many extended relatives and beloved friends. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Barb; parents, and sister, Shirley Wagner.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 20, 2014, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines, with visitation beginning two hours prior to service time. A private burial will be held at the Masonic Cemetery at a later date.
