Robert "Bob" Hutzel

Robert Hutzel, of Grimes, passed away on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. Bob was born on July 4, 1949 in Iowa Falls to Cora (Cook) and Eugene Hutzel.

Bob loved sports. He umpired baseball for 30+ years. He was a hockey goal judge for the DSM Buccaneers for 15 years. He enjoyed going to DCG Mustangs games that his son coached. Bob also enjoyed fishing but most of all he loved spending time with his grandkids. He was a huge Hawkeye, Cubs and Vikings fan. Bob was a longtime member of Highland Park Lutheran Church. He has worked for many years at Des Moines Lumber and most recently at O’Reilly Auto Parts. He will be greatly missed.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Teresa; sons, Michael and Brian; grandchildren, Hale and Ainsli; his mother, Cora; five brothers; two sisters; and other loving family and friends.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Bob’s family.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 20, 2014 at Highland Park Lutheran Church, 147 E. Euclid in Des Moines. Family will greet visitors an hour prior to the service.
