Gail “Bud” McAninch passed away on Thursday, October 30, 2014 at his home, he was 62.

Bud was born on June 1, 1952 in Des Moines. He was a lifelong Southsider, graduating from Lincoln High School. Bud owned and operated Southtown Furniture for 43 years before retiring in 2011. He, along with his late wife Bobbi also owned Bobbi Mac’s Dugout. Most recently Bud worked for Des Moines Auto Auction. He was a lifelong fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and Oakland Raiders and also a diehard New York Yankees fan.

Bud is survived by his daughters, Susan Hunter, Tracy McAninch, Carrissa Stethem and Charli Zahlen; son, Bud McAninch III; companion, Kelly Ann Griffin; brother, Robert “Kelly” (Cindy) McAninch; eight grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 18 years, Bobbi; his parents, Bud and Lillian McAninch; sister, Teresa Rae; grandson, Logan McAninch.

A memorial service will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 2, 2014 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Family will start greeting guests at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home on Sunday. Due to the road construction on SW 9th Street, the entrance to the funeral home is off of Fleur or SW 14th Street to Kenyon heading east.

The family would like to thank all of the many friends and family members who cared for Bud in his final weeks.
