Evelyn Pearl Dagnillo, 88, died peacefully Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at her home.

Evelyn was born November 3, 1925 in Pleasant Hill, Iowa (formerly Carpendale) to Victor and Edith Kooker. She was a resident of the east side area of Des Moines all her life and enjoyed dancing and entertaining her family and friends. She married Thomas P. Dagnillo August 30, 1946 in St. Joe, Missouri. They had two children, Joy Lynn Osborn and Thomas John Dagnillo. Evelyn loved spending time with her children and her grandchildren. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, the Croatian Fraternal Slavic Center, the Birthday Club, and the Eagles Lodge. She loved dancing at the Val Air Ballroom and the Lake Robbins Ballroom.

Survivors include her daughter, Joy (Danny) Osborn; son, Thomas J. Dagnillo (Deb Ellis); grandchildren, Chad E. Osborn, Neal K. Osborn, Jon C. (Miranda) Dagnillo, Amber J. Dagnillo, and Zachary T. Dagnillo; great-grandchildren, Lydia Osborn and Sara Dagnillo; and many nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas P. “Tommy” Dagnillo; and siblings, Gaylord Kooker, Kenny Kooker, Ira Kooker, Richard Kooker, and Ruby Dagnillo.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, September 21, 2014 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 22, also at the funeral home, with burial at Rising Sun Cemetery.
