James P. Hyler, Sr.

James P. Hyler, Sr., 75, passed away Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at Harbor Springs in West Des Moines.

Jim was born April 1, 1939 in Des Moines, Iowa to Forest and Corinne Hyler. Family was Jim’s life and he was completely devoted to his grandchildren. He was a wonderful father and grandfather and enjoyed children of all ages. Jim enjoyed fishing, working with horses, and liked all types of animals. He loved spending time at the lake home watching the kids play. Jim was a giving, caring man with a kind heart and a great sense of humor.

Jim is survived by his children, James Hyler, Jr. and Debbie (Ed) Chandler; grandchildren, Nathaniel, Joshua and Samuel Tarbell and Joseph, Brett and Ryan Chandler; four sisters; two brothers; and his granddog, Cuddles. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Bonnie; and daughter, Shari Tarbell.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, September 19, 2014 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. The funeral service for Jim will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 20, also at the funeral home, with burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
