Reta Rae (Bishop) Halsted

Reta Rae (Bishop) Halsted, 73, passed away at her home Tuesday, August 19, 2014.

Reta was born May 11, 1941 in Des Moines to Oliver and Beulah (McGuire) Bishop. She graduated from North High School and the School of Nursing. Reta worked as an LPN at Des Moines General for many years. She enjoyed feeding the birds, collecting stuffed animals and spending time with her beloved grandchildren.

Reta is survived by her son, Edward (Kasey) Halsted; daughter, Cynthia Mosell; brother, Richard Bishop; sisters, Beulah (Ron) Oxford and Murriel Rudzik; grandchildren, Meggan (John), Leslie, Andrea, Blake, E.J. and Alexia; and a host of extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Carlton Bishop; and her granddaughter, Caydance Rae.

Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, August 23, 2014 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street followed by burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. prior to the service on Saturday.
