Ross A. Gabriel, 52, passed away at his home Friday, July 18, 2014.
Ross was born August 11, 1961 in Des Moines to Rocky and Dorothy Gabriel. He worked several years for Burns Electric and was a member of Local Union #55. Ross was an avid Payton Manning fan. He enjoyed going to Ledges State Park and riding his motorcycle.
Ross is survived by his wife, Shelly Daughenbaugh Gabriel; children, Jessica (Randy Parker) Gabriel, Michael Gabriel, Kenneth Gabriel and Ross Gabriel, Jr.; grandchildren, Skyler, Gage, Cayden and Avery Parker and Jordan, Payton and Elijah Gabriel; mother, Dorothy Gabriel; siblings, Roxie Ann Beck, Angel Gabriel, Peggy (Larry) Davis, Eddie Gabriel, Dino Gabriel, Celeste (Ken Slater) Gabriel and Bob (Cindy) Gabriel; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Rocky Gabriel.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family.

I worked and knew Ross from the Des Moines Register.I was shocked at his passing.Great memories of you old friend from days past.The press room,the Office lounge.You never had a frown on your face.You were one of the nicest happiest guys I ever met.Gods speed to you and my sympathy s to all the Gabriel family
