Coop I am at a loss for words and have been since you passed. The last thing I expected on that bizzaro( yes I used your word..... BIZZAR-O) night was for you to leave us. It wasnt but a couple hours before that you were offering to help me hang chases bike up in the garage and an hour before that I snuck up on you trying to get a belt on your van saying to yourself " oh ya thats the spot right there oh ya right there" lol you were a dam good guy and we love you and miss you coop rest in peace you will never be forgotten.

Every morning I get up and look to the recliner in the corner expecting you to be sitting there doing your usual morning grunting. Never did I think in a million years that I would ever miss that yet I do. I have complained to everyone about everything about you just as you have complained to everyone about everything about me. But at the end of the day we would listen to one anothers complaints about life in general as friends do. And when it came down to the serious things in life we did always have each other backs. I have been lost and very angry with you for leaving me this past week. I mean any time that I told you that I was moving you would come back with " where we moving to." I thought I would be stuck with you for the rest of my life. Not for one minute did I even consider that I would wake up one morning and you would be gone. You have taught me that a person should not take anyone or anything for granite and to live each day as if it were your last. There are so many things left unsaid between us. With all the bickering we have done and all the pouting YOU have done I don't think I have ever told you that I love you and thank you for not bailing out on me like so many others have in the past. Well I'm telling you now and I pray that you know this and that you are at peace. You live on in my heart and I will never let your memory fade out. I will tell your stories to my grandchildren and their children and so on until the day I see you again my friend. ( Oh ya- I'm not mad at you anymore) ??

I didn't have the chance to get ta know you very well yet, so why did you have to check out so soon? I wished that i could have gotten to know you better, after all you did dub me Shady Peggy, even if I'm not a shady person. I know it comes from me doing installs for Budget Blinds, and not being the only Peggy that you knew. U will be missed.

Douglas Cooper, age 59 died of a heart attack on Wednesday, April 23, 2014. Doug was born August 26, 1954. He graduated from Newton Senior High School in 1972. Doug was a brick mason by trade. He is survived by his mother, Hazel Cooper (Newton), a brother Clayton Cooper of North Liberty, a sister, Julie Cooper Malone of West Des Moines, and his son, Chad Cooper of Newton.
The family will have a small, very informal Memorial Service on Thursday, May 8, 2014, 6:00 p.m. at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 1409 S. 8th Ave. E., Newton, Iowa. Please come as you are to share stories and celebrate Doug' life.

I will miss u Doug u were my best friend and roommate for the last 8 years. I always knew I could rely on you for help no matter what I was doing. The worse thing about losing you is I never let u know how much you taught me and never told you were my brother. I never will forget you because you filled my life with laughter and adventure. The only guy I know that ran out of gas twice in my truck. Love ya brother you will be missed dearly.

What an incredibly sad thing that has happened to such a nice, caring guy. The good ones always seem to be taken away quickly and far too soon. It was a pleasure having you as a neighbor..you were always ready with a wave or quick hello. It is already so different not seeing the garage door open with you out there doing your stuff or your van in the driveway. I hope that you have the peace you deserve. I am sorry i didnt get that darn garage sale you have been waiting for me for forever to together sooner...I definitely would have given you VIP Great Neighbor Priviledges (lol) You were an awesome neighbor, and I'm very glad I got to know you the time that was meant. RIP "Coop"
