Ellamarye Knutzon

Ellamarye Knutzon, 87, passed away August 6, 2013, in Des Moines, Iowa. Services will be held at 2 pm, Thursday, August 8, 2013, at the First United Methodist Church, 1001 Pleasant Street in Des Moines. Private burial will be Friday, August 9, 2013, in Norway Lake Cemetery.

Ellamarye was born December 25, 1925, to Otto and Elsa Roepke in Eagle Grove, Iowa. Following High School graduation Elly attended business school where she and her roommate, Jo, dated and later married the Knutzon brothers, Russel and Irvin Knutzon. Elly and Irvin married on June 8, 1947. The four have shared a lifetime together. Elly worked at the Iowa State Legislature for many years and also worked with the Irvin Knutzon Accounting Firm. She was an avid bridge player and very active in the First United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Irvin, of West Des Moines; sons, James (Diane) of Colorado, Kurt (Cristina) of Georgia and Randy(Debbie) of California. She has seven grandchildren and one great granddaughter.

In lieu of flowers the family appreciates donations to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
