Dorothy Marie Stoll
December 27, 2011
Dorothy Marie Stoll was born to Trygve and Edna Olson on December 8, 1926 in Eagle Grove, Iowa and passed away on December 27, 2011.
Dorothy was the middle child of nine children. During her childhood, the family moved to Des Moines then Altoona and finally to Mitchellville. After graduating from Mitchellville High School in 1945, Dorothy married Robert Stoll of Bondurant on June 30, 1946. They lived and worked together on the Stoll family farm for 35 years. Dorothy also held several clerical positions over the years in the Des Moines area. Dorothy and Bob moved from the farm to their current home in Bondurant in 1980. Bob passed away in 2008, and Dorothy continued to live in their home until she moved to Mill Pond in Ankeny this past fall.
The two focal points of Dorothy’s life were her family and her church. She had children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren located in Iowa, North Carolina, Minnesota, Missouri, Colorado and California, and she loved traveling to visit them all. She was a great supporter of all of their life events and a wonderful babysitter for all.
Dorothy was very active in the Bondurant Christian Church. She was a Sunday school teacher and a youth group leader for many years. She also served as a church camp counselor and choir member and was active in Women’s Fellowship.
Dorothy was an avid reader and crossword aficionado. She was a regular patron of the Bondurant Library and served on the library board for a number of years. She also had a great passion for sewing. She began sewing at a young age and always had numerous projects going during her entire life. She made her own wedding dress along with countless coats, dresses and a multitude of outfits for family and friends. Her favorite sewing projects in recent years were coats and jackets for new arrivals to the family.
Dorothy passed away unexpectedly in Western Colorado while visiting family for Christmas. She spent her last days surrounded by sixteen of her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob, two sisters and two brothers. She is survived by her four children: Roger (Jinnie) of Pella, Nancy Christensen (Ron) of Collbran, CO, Glenn (Pat) of Collbran, CO, Marty (Beth) of Wabasha, MN, nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and four brothers. She will be greatly missed by them all.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 on Wednesday at Hamilton’s Funeral Home at 105 4th St. SW in Altoona. A celebration of Dorothy’s life will be held at the Bondurant Christian Church on Thursday at 11 a.m. followed by a graveside service and luncheon. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bondurant Christian Church.

Roger, Nancy, Glenn, Marty and families,
So sorry to hear of Dorothy's passing. We have such fun memories of her at Clear Lake. If there was any fun around, you could be sure she was right in the middle of it. How we wish we could be there to deliver our sympathies in person but unfortunately the miles dictate our activities. If you see any of the other Robertsons, please have them give you a hug from us. Keeping all of you in our prayers.
Love,
Allan and Lu Payne

Nancy & Boys, I am so sorry to hear of your mother's passing. Don't know if I'll be able to see you. Gotta work. Hope I can see you. Is there anything I can do for you?
We had lots of good times together. Your Mom was always so gratious to us girls. How many times did we practice our cookie demonstration in your kitchen? I saw your Mom the Sunday before Christmas. She seemed really good that day.
I will keep you in my prayers. Love, Sue (cell 515-865-5218)
